BEATLES UK – ‘Sgt Pepper's’ Mono LP, ‘Wide Spine’ & a ‘1 G’ mother /stamper.

PMC 7027 – original Black and Yellow Parlophone labels.

A UK pressing, featuring:

This is a very unique record set that features a very first Mono sleeve, an ‘8mm wide spine’ with a very first press record, a ‘1 G’ mother / stamper on side two. 

1. it is now believed that these flipback ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released back in June 1967. The storey apparently goes that due to storage problems, the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar, ‘thinner’ spine sleeves,

2. this particular copy has a spine width of 8mm at its widest point,

3. side two of the vinyl has a ‘1 G’ mother/stamper, making this the very earliest record you can have,

4.the front sleeve image has a ‘lighter colour blue sky’ the sky colour on regular sleeves is a darker blue.  The sleeve is not faded in anyway.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened. The original 8mm wide spine is in very good condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INSERT: the original green cardboard cut out sheet is NOT present.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. This sleeve has remained an excellent fresh white in colour. Theres NO pen writing, stains, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There is a small tear to one side of the opening edge.

THE VINYL: is in very good++ condition. The vinyl is made of the period ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl, it has remained clean, dark and glossy.

The matrix are:    XEX  637 - 1      and        XEX  638 - 1,

The mother / stampers are:    ‘ 3   R ’  and  amazingly the earliest you can have,  a  ‘ 1 G ’.

THE AUDIO: plays near excellent, it plays with very little ‘crackle’, it plays with some light ‘ticks’ heard here and there. The record lays flat on the turntable.   

THE LABELS: are in good++ condition. The labels generally are clean but do have some wear around the spindle holes on each side. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
