BEATLES UK - Sgt Pepper's Mono LP, wide spine.

PMC 7027 – Original Black and Yellow Parlophone label.

A UK pressing in 100% original condition.

It is now believed that these ‘wide spine’ Pepper sleeves were the very first to be printed when the LP was first released back in June 1967.  The storey apparently goes that due to storage problems, the wide spine sleeves were discontinued in favour of the more familiar regular, ‘thinner’ spine sleeves.

This particular copy has a spine width of 9mm at its widest point.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE:  is in excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated.  The original exposed two top flipbacks can be seen when the sleeve is opened.  The spine is in excellent condition  and all the text on the spine is clear to read.  There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue. There are a few ‘thumb nail’ light creases to the laminate.

THE INSERT: the original DARK green cardboard  ‘ cut-out ’  is in excellent condition, with no tears, ceases, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original red and white ‘wavy’ pattern sleeve. The ‘white’ colour on this sleeve has remained a really lovely fresh white, the best I’ve seen. Theres NO pen writing, tears, stains, stickers or sticker residue.  There is some slight edge splitting to the three edges where the record tends to come through.

THE VINYL:  side one is in excellent condition, with just a couple of isolated marks, side two is in near MINT condition, I cannot see any marks at all on this side, it is clear that the record has not been played very much at all.  The vinyl  is made of the period thick, heavy vinyl,  it has retained its NEW look, it is very clean,  dark  and glossy.

The Matrix are:    XEX  637 - 1      and        XEX  638 - 1,

Mother / Stampers are:            ‘ 3       GG ’   and       very early   ‘ 1 L ’.

THE AUDIO:    side one is excellent, although I did hear some light ‘ticks’ towards the end of the track  ‘Fixing a hole’.  Side two is excellent++,  a  near perfect audio,  even the exit to the track  ‘A day in the life’  is unusually free from crackle.  A really excellent playing copy. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays excellent without the needle sticking or jumping. 

THE LABELS:  side one is in excellent++ condition  and clearly shows very little play. Side two the label is in near MINT condition, if fact it looks unplayed !.  The letters ‘ KT ’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one.  Theres  NO pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the labels.
