Description

BEATLES  UK – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL STEREO – Mispress  ‘RACOON’ Label.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING STEREO PRESSING WITH A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF  ‘0536478’.

On side Two of the record label it feature the very unusual spelling error of the word  ‘Raccoon’,   this is actually spelt   ‘ Racoon’ !  on this copy.

On side Four on the vinyl the  ‘Mother/Stampers’  are:   ‘ 2   GAD ’  but unusually above this there is an additional letter  that has been crossed out !

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the full laminated double album gatefold sleeve is in very good condition.  The four opening edges of the sleeve are  all in excellent condition.  On the front it has a raised Beatles logo and the unique individual SERIAL Number of 0536478, this number appears clear and bold.  The word ‘STEREO’ appears on the rear of the sleeve, proving this to be a genuine ‘STEREO’ sleeve. The records are accessed from the top.  The spine is in good+ condition,  the spine is slightly discoloured due to age  and there is some ‘flaky’ laminate, but ALL the text on the spine is  readable.   The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened,  these flipbacks are all very good and well stuck down.  When the sleeve is opened it is very  clean and tidy.

INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black inners and have NOT been  replaced.    The first sleeve I would grade as being in very good+ condition, there is some  slight   rubbing wear to the bottom edge.   The other sleeve is  in very good++ condition,  there is NO rubbing edge wear,  these  original sleeve  are  very  fragile,  but these Two sleeves  have  been very well preserved.

POSTER:  please note,  there is no Poster.

PHOTOS: please note, there are no Photos.

VINYL:  the first record, side One is in very good+ condition,   side Two is in  near excellent condition.  The second record, sides Three and Four are in very good condition.    The Two records are made of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl and are dark and shiny.   The matrix nos. are YEX 709-1,  YEX 710-1,  YEX 711-1 and   YEX 712-1.   The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘ 1    P T’,   ‘ 1    P  A’,     ‘2   G P A’  and   ‘ 2    G A D ’  with  an  additional letter  crossed out above the Stamper.

AUDIO:  Side One and Two, the audio is very good+,  on sides Three and Four   the audio is very good.    The Two records lay flat on the turntable and play  very well with NO skips or jumps. On side Four,  at the end of the song  ‘Savoy Truffle’  and at the  beginning of the song  ‘Cry Baby Cry’  there is  a  ‘ tick’  that can be heard  at  a low volume.

THE LABELS:  are all in very good+ condition and show NO Biro writing or sticker residue etc.   The labels feature the original DARK green Apple colours.  As mentioned above, side Two on the record label features the very unusual, spelling error of the word  ‘Raccoon’,    this is actually spelt   ‘ Racoon ’  !  All Four Labels have the text  ‘An EMI recording’,   all the labels show  ‘Sold in the UK’ text etc.   The George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’.

***************

Unfortunately as you  will see from my feedback,   I have received one neutral and one negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received these two pieces of feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

***************

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
