Description
BEATLES UK – White Album, 10mm wide spine, original UK mono LP.
PMC 7067/7068 - original 1968 UK, Apple record labels.
A UK very first top loading mono issue with a unique serial number of ‘No. 0280874’, and featuring:
1. an unusual, ‘wider’ spine that measures 10mm at its widest point.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: the double album gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. A very clean sleeve for its age that is relatively free from any indentations. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL number of No. 0280874, this number appears clear and bold. On the rear there is NO text printed, proving this to be a genuine MONO sleeve. The records are removed from the top of the sleeve. The spine is in very good++ condition and all the text on the spine is readable. The more unusual ‘wider’ spine, measures 10mm, when measured at its widest point. The spine appears to have a more ‘flatter’ profile to it, as regular spines on these sleeves tend to have a ‘seam’ running down them. The four opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp for its age. The sleeve features two visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down. When the sleeve is opened it is glossy, clean and tidy. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, sticker residue or stickers on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original Apple black inner sleeves and have NOT been replaced. One of the sleeves is in near excellent condition, with just two small ‘nicks’, around the ‘die cut hole’, there are NO tears or splits. The other sleeve is in very good+ condition, there is a 10mm tear around the ‘die cut hole’ and a 10mm tear to the back, middle, left opening edge. A small piece of the paper is missing, approximately 5mm sq. to the middle back opening edge. There is a split to one of the side edges and to the bottom edge. The sleeves are in untouched original condition with NO signs of any cellotape, or any repairs.
THE POSTER: the original poster is in near excellent condition. There are NO splits, pen writing, sellotape residue, pin hole damage or blue tack residue to the poster. There is a 30mm tear to the front bottom right corner. The poster has some light age related marks to the rear.
THE PHOTOS: the original photos are in near excellent condition. They are made from the original thick card. The rear of the photos have remained clean and white in colour. There are NO creases, sellotape residue, pin hole damage or blue tack residue. There are some light age related marks to the front white borders.
THE RECORDS: record one, side one, is in good++ condition, side two is in very good+ condition. Record two, side three is in good++ condition and side four is in very good+ condition. The two records are made of the original period, 1960s ‘thick / heavy ’ vinyl and have remained dark and glossy.
The matrix nos. are: XEX 709 - 1, XEX 710 - 1, XEX 711 - 1 and XEX 712 - 1.
The mother / stampers are: ‘ 6 A M ’, ‘ 4 A A ’, ‘ 3 A R ’ and ‘1 M G’.
THE AUDIO: is excellent, the audio plays with relatively quiet grooves. Each side plays with some light ‘crackle’ and some light ‘pops’ and ‘ticks’ heard here and there. Each record plays with a good clear, loud period mono sound.
THE LABELS: side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. Sides three and four are in very good++ condition. As this is a very first UK mono issue, labels one and three feature the original DARK green Apple colours. All the labels show the text ‘Sold in UK’ etc and the George and Ringo songs are listed under ‘Apple Publishing’. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
