BEATLES UK – White Album, unusual high numbered sleeve, 3 matrix, UK original mono.

PMC 7067/7068 -  1968 original Apple record labels.

A UK very first press, mono, top loading sleeve, with an unusually high, unique serial number of ‘No. 0609182’, featuring:

1. these very first issue UK mono sleeves were all individually numbered, the numbers ran right up to nos 06*****, then these first press sleeves were discontinued. So this sleeve with its high number of 0609182 would have been one of the last sleeves to have been issued,

2. on the record on side three, the ‘mother’ reference has not been engraved onto the run off groove !,

3. the matrix on side three is very unusual, as it is a number ‘3’ !, nearly all of these first issue UK mono records had a ‘1’ matrix !,

4. side four on the record label has unusually the letters ‘KT’ embossed around the spindle hole.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: the double album gatefold sleeve is in very good++ condition. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual serial number of, No. 0609182, this number appears clear and bold. To the rear there is no text printed proving this to be a genuine MONO sleeve. The records are accessed from the top. The four opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in excellent++ condition, one of the best condition spines I have seen for a long time, it has remained clean, fresh and white and doesn’t even have the usual ‘flaky’ laminate, all the text is clear to read on the spine. The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down. When the sleeve is opened it is very glossy, clean and tidy. Theres NO pen writing, splits or tears on the sleeve. There is a water mark to the top left corner, front and rear and some ‘marks’ to the laminate to the rear panel. There is slight evidence of a once sticker to the top, front right corner.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original ‘Apple’ black inner sleeves and have NOT been replaced. One sleeve is in very good++ condition, it has two tears, 30mm around the ‘die cut hole’ and some ‘fraying’ to the back opening edge and two tears, 10mm to the back opening edge, there are NO splits to the edges. The second sleeve is in very good+ condition, it has two tears, 60mm around the ‘die cut hole’ and a small ‘nick’ to the front opening edge, there are NO splits to the edges.

THE POSTER: the original poster is in very good+ condition. In general a good, clean complete poster. Theres NO pen writing, tears, sello tape residue, pin hole damage, blue tack residue etc. There is a slight split, 10mm to the edge to one of the folds and some age related marks here and there.

THE PHOTOS: the original four photos are in excellent condition and are made from the original thick card. For their age the rears of the photos are fresh, clean and white. Theres NO sello tape residue, pin hole damage or blue tack residue etc. There is some slight age related marks to the front white borders of the photos.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one and two are in very good++ condition, record two, side three is in very good+ condition and side four is in very good++ condition. The two records are made of the original 1960s ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl.

The matrix are:  XEX   709 - 1,  XEX  710 - 1, XEX - 711 and very unusually a ‘3’ and  XEX   712 - 1.

The mother / stampers are:  ‘6  A M’, ‘4  A A’, and ‘very unusually the ‘mother’ has not been engraved here ?, the stamper is: ‘G R D’, and side four is: ‘2  P H’.

THE AUDIO: is very good, each side plays with some light crackle. Each of  the records lay flat on the turntable

THE LABELS: side one is in near excellent condition, sides two, three and four are in very good++ condition. As this is a very first UK mono issue the labels on side one and three feature the original DARK green Apple colours. All the labels show the text ‘Sold in UK’ etc. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
