BEATLES UK – White Album, original Mono, rare 13mm flat wide spine.

1968 PMC 7067/7068 - Apple record labels.

A UK first edition top loading Mono set with a unique serial number of ‘no. 0121360’, featuring:

A very small number of these sleeves left the EMI printers in the UK with these very hard to find ‘flat profile’, ultra wide spine sleeves. Regular wide spine sleeves measure 8mm and have a noticeable seam or crease that runs down the centre of the spine, but the spine on this sleeve has no ‘seam’ and is flat in profile, depending or how and where the spine is measured, the width of the spine various from 10 to 13mm.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: the double album gatefold sleeve is in very good+ condition. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL number of ‘No. 0121360, this number appears clear and bold. To the rear, top right there is no text printed, proving this to be a genuine MONO sleeve. The records are accessed from the top. The ultra rare flat profile ‘wide spine’ measures between 10 and 13mm in width, all the text is clear to read. The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down. When the sleeve is opened it is white, clean and tidy. Theres NO pen writing, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. To the top of the spine there are two small tears, 10mm. For its age and rarity a well preserved sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVES: the inner sleeves are not the original, they have been replaced at some point with.. I must say excellent re production black inner sleeves, it is only a keen eye and the fact that the sleeves are in mint condition tells that they are not the originals. The sleeves are a near perfect reproduction of the originals, ie a ‘die cut hole’ on one side.

THE PHOTOS: the photos, as with the inners are not the originals but again are excellent re productions and it is only with a keen eye and the fact that the photos are in near mint condition and the fact that the photos have a ‘satin’ finish to them and not the  original ‘gloss’ finish tells that they are not the originals. The photos are near perfect copies of the originals, ie made from thick, heavy card.

THE POSTER: is the original poster and is in excellent condition. Theres NO pen writing, stains, tears, sellotape residue, pin hole damage or blue tack residue, stickers or sticker residue on the poster. The poster does have a little wear to some of the outer edges of the folds, 5 – 10mm.

THE VINYL: record one is in very good+  condition, record two  is in very good++ condition. The two records are made of the original ‘ thick and heavy ’ vinyl and have remained dark and  glossy.

The matrix nos. are:  XEX  709 - 1,  XEX  710 - 1,  XEX  711 - 1  and  XEX   712 - 1.

The mother / stampers are: ‘ 4   M A ’, ‘  2  6   G A T ’, ‘ 1  H T ’  and ‘ 5   M D ’.

THE AUDIO: is near excellent, it plays well with just some light ‘dusty’ crackle, here and there. I did hear some light ‘ticks’ for the first minute of play on the track ‘Honey Pie’. Each record lays flat on the turntable

THE LABELS: sides one and two are in very good+ condition, side three and four are in excellent condition. Side two has some sticker residue left behind from a small sticker, see photo. As this is a very first issue, two of the Apple labels show the original DARK green Apple colours. All the labels have the text ‘Sold in the UK’ etc and the George and Ringo songs are listed under ‘Apple Publishing’. Theres NO pen writing on any of the labels and no other stickers or sticker residue, other than that already mentioned.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
