BEATLES UK – White Album LP, 10mm wide spine, rare ‘textured’ labels, first press.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  apple record labels.

A UK first pressing top loading Stereo copy with a unique serial number of ‘ No. 0205043 ’ and featuring:

1. all four of the record labels have rare ‘textured’ surfaces, see photos. I have never seem or heard of another copy with this !. A different grade of paper seems to have been used to give this effect !,

2. the sleeve has a more unusual wide spine, the spine measures 10mm in width,

3. the record label on side two is unusual, as the letters ‘KT’ are embossed onto it !, suggesting this to be a very early copy,

4. labels one and two do not have the printed text, ‘An EMI Recording’ but on labels three and four, this text is printed !,

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the double album gatefold sleeve is fully laminated. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual SERIAL number of  No. 0205043, this number appears clear and bold. The spine is in very good++ condition and is an unusual wide spine, as it measures a much wider width of 10mm, it has some of the usual ‘flaky’ laminate but it has remained very white in colour and is very clean, all of the text on the spine is clear to read. As this is a very first UK copy the sleeve features two visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down. When the sleeve is opened it is in excellent condition, very glossy, clean and tidy. The rear of the sleeve is in a similar condition to the front of the sleeve, very clean and tidy. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original Apple black inner sleeves. Each of the sleeves have had some ‘repairs’ done to them using tape, a very good job has been done on these repairs / re enforcing the sleeves from the INSIDE, so keeping their original appearance. Each sleeve has some small ‘nicks’ to one side of the opening edge and on one inner side a piece of tape has been applied to help re enforce these edges. Each sleeve has the three folded edges re enforced from the INSIDE with tape. Such a good job has been done it is not clear to tell if there are any edge splits. In addition to the above:

One sleeve is in very good++ condition and has a 10mm tear around the ‘die cut hole’. The other sleeve is in good++ condition and has three tears, repaired with tape from the inside, around the ‘die cut hole’. Overall, due to the very good quality repairs, each sleeve looks presentable. The records are kept in two spare sleeves to help protect the originals.

THE POSTER: is in near excellent condition. The poster has remained an excellent clean, fresh white in colour. Theres NO pen writing, sellotape / residue, pin holes, blue tack residue, stickers or sticker residue. There is some slight wear to the centre folds. There are NO tears.

THE PHOTOS: are in excellent condition, the rear of the photos have remained  an excellent clean white. Theres NO pen writing, tears, pin hole damage, sellotape residue, blue tack residue, stickers or sticker residue.

THE VINYL: the records are in very good+ condition. The records are made of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl, they have remained dark and glossy.

The matrix nos. are:   YEX   709 – 1,  YEX  710 - 1, YEX  711 - 1 and  YEX 712 - 1.

The Mother / Stampers are:   ‘ 6  M O ’,  ‘ 2  O R ’, ‘ 3  M G ’ and ‘1  O L’.

THE AUDIO: sides one and two, the audio is very good+, they play with some light crackle, I also heard some light ‘ticks’ through the track ‘Ob la di, Ob la da. Side two also plays with some light crackle, I also heard some light ‘ticks’ on the track ‘Don’t pass me by’. Sides three and four, the audio is very good++ each side plays with some light crackle. Each of the records lay flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. As this is a very first UK press two of the labels feature the original UK DARK green Apple colours. All the labels show the text ‘Sold in UK’ etc, the George and Ringo songs are listed as ‘Apple Publishing’. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

PACKING  -  ALL RECORDS ARE POSTED WITH MULTI LAYERED CARD STIFFENERS FOR PROTECTION.BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
