Please read description carefully before bidding on this one - condition is unfortunately not all it could be!
THE GOOD BITS
This is a 1st UK stereo pressing of The Beatles’ white album, with the ‘The BEATLES’ embossed on the cover, a comparatively low (six-digit) number ‘No. 0314542’.
It has top opening sleeve, with black inner sleeves.
Er .. that’s about it for the good bits.
Except to say I am a trusted eBay seller (with over 1,500 positive feedbacks on my other chandylionsden account). I will pack the record carefully (in a record LP mailer with a stiffener). I will be fair with postage costs, prompt to send it to you and responsive if you want to ask me any questions (like have I really got nothing better to do than write a detailed eBay description like this.)
THE BAD BITS
I don’t even think this can be called ‘Good’ with Record Collector grading, where ‘Good’ as the old record collecting joke goes is Not ‘Very Good’!
It’s more like fair or poor. The extent of the previous owner’s or owners’ sins comprise the following:
1. A previous owner has written ‘3’ in black pen on the front of the cover and on the back of the cover. Why?! Perhaps they only had three records along with no idea how to look after them. Perhaps they were three years old, which would at least be an excuse.
2. A previous owner has written ‘Ryan’ upside down on the front of the cover. Why?! Apart from, at a guess, that his (her?) name was Ryan, I don’t know.
3. A previous owner has attached something to the cover with a small cross shape of sellotape at some point and some residue from this remains, but which may be removable. What it was and why, I have no idea.
4. A previous owner has removed the portraits of the Beatles and the poster and stuck them to the wall of their bedsit to enjoy looking at whilst listening to the record and smoking marijuana or done something else with them and not put them back. In any event all the inserts are missing/not present.
5. A previous owner has, whilst stoned or otherwise, put the WRONG RECORD back in one of the sleeves. That’s right, I’m afraid that whilst what you will get is for disc one is disc one of the White album (PCS7067 with matrix runouts embossed YEX710-1 and YEX709-1) for disc two you will get a first UK stereo pressing of Abbey Road!! (PCS 7088, YEX750-1/YEX749-2). It could be worse, I suppose, it is at least by The Beatles and not ‘The Best of James Last’ or something like that.
6. Previous owner or owners have not looked after the records or the sleeve or the inner sleeves very well. The records have lots of scratches, and may or may not just about still play.
So .... not good ... really, but too much a bit of history to throw away. So it’s 99p no reserve time. May be or interest to someone as a collection filler, prop, piece of social history etc.
