Rare Original 1968 UK First Pressing – Mono "No EMI" Variation
Up for auction is a highly sought-after complete first UK pressing of The Beatles' self-titled "White Album" (PMC 7067/8). This is the definitive collector's version, featuring the earliest label variation and the original top-loading sleeve.
Key Features & Identifiers:
Mono Pressing: Original 1968 Mono mix (PMC 7067/8).
Type 1 "No EMI" Labels: This copy features the rarest first-batch labels without the "An E.M.I. Recording" text on the left side. This is not on all 4 Sides.
There is also the inclusion of the “sold in UK text” which was removed from later pressings
Early Stampers: Side 1 features the G.R.R. (1 2 2) EMI stamper codes, indicating it was among the very first discs pressed from the master plates.
Numbered Top-Loading Sleeve: Embossed "The Beatles" on the front with serial number 0150143. This is the original 1968 top-loading gatefold design.
Fully Complete Set: Includes the original large fold-out lyric poster and all four glossy color portraits of the band.
Condition Report:
Vinyl: The vinyl is in good condition with a high gloss. It shows some sign of age but plays through well with the classic deep Mono punch.
Sleeve: The cover shows signs of age-related wear and does show some signs of ageing and wear on the spine and corners. This is typical for a 50+ year old white laminate sleeve.
Inserts: The poster does have a tear across the middle unfortunately but all four portraits are present. They do have pin holes where they have been pinned to a wall, but are fully intact with no major tears.
