Description
This is a standard commercial reissue of The Beatles White Album. Cover is embossed with number 377879. I have noted the matrix numbers 192-04173-8-1 F and 192-04174-8-1F. The back of the album cover has the numbers IC 172-04173/74 and the word STEREO. The cover has the round gold award sticker "Deutscher Schallplattenpreis".
The album is complete with 4 individual portraits of the lads shot by John Kelly. As well as the large fold-out poster containing a photo collage by Richard Hamilton on one side and album lyrics printed on reverse.
Because original 1960s German masterings of the White Album are widely considered by audiophiles to be some of the best-sounding versions ever pressed, these 1970s records—which reuse those high-quality German metal parts—carry a distinct premium for their audio quality rather than absolute historical rarity.
The 1973–1976 Reissue Era: In 1973, Germany's EMI Electrola re-released The White Album using the updated catalog format 1C 192-04 173/74. For this specific reissue campaign, they printed standard side-loading gatefold jackets that were individually machine-numbered in a clean, greyish-printed font on the front cover. The serial number of this album falls directly into the production sequence of these mid-70s German-printed sleeves.
PLEASE NOTE: there may be some glare on the photographs of the records included in this album and it may look like a smear or flaw but trust me the records are in very very good condition if not fine (I am not an expert grader but these records have rarely been played).
