This is the rare 1968 MONO UK 1st Press of 'The White Album by The Beatles. This complete 1st press is on the dark Apple label. It has the earliest MONO -1/-1//-1/-1 matrix and 1st Press 'Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.' fully-laminated GATEFOLD sleeve. It is a COMPLETE copy with POSTER and all the INSERTS!!! NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE TOP-OPENING GATEFOLD SLEEVE HAS A VERY LOW NUMBER (0093021) AND IS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION!!! This is one of The Beatles' rarest LPs!!! Any fan of The Beatles or 60s music in general will want this in their collection.
The record is in Excellent (Minus) condition. THERE IS VERY LITTLE LESSENING IN SOUND QUALITY. It has a bright shine with only one or two MEGA lighthairlines, a few VERY SLIGHT marks, and a few light paper scuffs (only visible under bright sun or lamp light) on each side. It is clear that this Double LP has NOT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!! On playing the sound is extremely good, sharp and clear, but there is a few light touches of crackle (mostly contained between the tracks and the run-ins). There are NO jumps, NO clicks, NO loud pops, NO heavy crackle in the music, NO skips, NO sticks, NO groovewear, NO warps and NO distortion!!! The dark green Apple label has retained its deep colour and the text is bold and clear!!! There is ALMOST NO spindle wear (only a few VERY slight touches)!!!
On the matter of the inserts, they are all Excellent (if NOT Near Mint) condition. This includes the black inner sleeves (which have NO tears and NO splits), the four photos (all originals as they have a DARKER and BOLDER printing than the reissues, which were made in a much more cheap fashion), the poster (which does NOT appear to have EVER been hung or blue-tacked to anything)!!!!
The fully-laminated UK 1st press sleeve is in Excellent condition. The white is very white!!! There is barely any wear to the TOP-OPENING edge!! The laminated internal cover is in Excellent condition. There is a few VERY slight touches of obvious yellowing on the spine (but ALMOST NONE on the sleeve itself)!!! The whole cover still feels very solid and the spine is firm with clear text. There is NO writing, NO heavy spinal wear, NO tears, NO splits, NO serious damage, NO rubbing, NO obvious yellowing, NO heavy creases and NO feathering to the opening edge! This is clearly one of the best covers you will EVER see!!
