Description
1st UK Mono Pressing of The Beatles 'White Album' featuring the highly sought-after "No EMI Recording" label misprint.
This copy is the earliest "Version 1" production run from November 1968. The absence of the "An E.M.I. Recording" text on the labels confirms this was among the first batch ever printed.
Mono Pressing: Catalog PMC 7067 & PMC 7068.
Rare Label Variant: Lacks the "An E.M.I. Recording" credit on all four labels.
Matrix Numbers: XEX 709-1 / 711-1 (The earliest possible -1 masters).
Low Numbered Sleeve: Top-loading gatefold sleeve, numbered 0094343.
Label Text: Includes "Sold in UK subject to resale price conditions."
Condition Report:
Vinyl: I have play-tested all four sides on my Pro-ject set-up. It plays with a strong, punchy mono sound with some mild crackling in places. There are two minor skips at the very beginning of "Back in the USSR" (Side 1) and one slight skip during "Rocky Raccoon" (Side 2). The remainder of the album plays through without further skips and sounds great - I cannot guarantee that your set up will be the same.
Sleeve: Original top-loader. No ink marks, handwriting, or doodles. Shows natural age-related yellowing and a couple of small marks on the front, but remains clean and sturdy. See photos.
Inners: Includes the original 1968 black die-cut inner sleeves. They are "tatty" with wear and splits down the sides, but are 100% original to the set. Could easily be replaced or repaired with tape, but I didn’t want to do that with sleeves of this age!
Inserts: Includes all four original glossy portrait photos. Please note there is a slight crease to the photo of Paul McCartney - see photos. (Note: The large poster is missing).
