This is a UNIQUE CHANCE to bid on an EXTREMELY LOW NUMBER 0006970 COMPLETE ORIGINAL UK MONO FIRST PRESS IN LOVELY CONDITION of this masterpiece!
IT IS IN A FANTASTIC CONDITION - PLAYS ALMOST AS NEW!!! I have listened very carefully – one time through the speakers and one through head phones, only listening for surface noise and/or sound imperfections – and it really sounds AWESOME, with virtually no surface noise at all!
I will do my best to describe the minor imperfections in detail below.
THIS STUNNING SET IS COMPLETE, ORIGINAL AS ISSUED (THE TOP-OPENING COVER, THE RECORDS, THE POSTER, THE INNERS AND THE PHOTOS ALL COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL AS ISSUED!!!) AND ALL IN ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS CONDITION!
THE INSERTS--------------
The big fold-out poster is NM (as new - my highest grade), the four photos would be NM if not for small crinkle on lower left corner of Ringo’s and Lennon’s photos respectively (see pictures). The black inners do (inevitably) have small splits on some of the seams, but are otherwise in excellent condition.
THE COVER----------------
THE FULLY LAMINATED GATEFOLD TOP-OPENING SLEEVE IS IN GREAT CONDITION - IT IS (INEVITABLY) A TAD OFF WHITE (from age), HAS NO NOTICABLE COVER WEAR AT ALL, THE NUMBER 0006970 IS CLEAR AND WITHOUT WEAR, THE EMBOSSED 'THE BEATLES' AS NICE AS POSSIBLY CAN BE, AND WOULD BE NM IF NOT FOR THE FOLLOWING IMPERFECTIONS (click on the pictures to make them bigger)...
- Slightly bumped corners (all 4 - see pictures)
- Small lamination peel on spine (three tiny ones and one 2 inch along the spine - nothing much or serious at all)
- The edges of the flip backs on the inside of the foldout has tiny fragments of black from the inners (as can be seen on the pictures)
- A slight discoloration in lower left (front cover) and lower right (back cover), can be seen in the attached pictures as well
WHEN OPENING UP THE GATEFOLD IT STILL MAKES THAT EXCITING 'LAMINATION SOUND' THAT IT WOULD MAKE WHEN NEW BACK IN THE YEAR 1968!
THE RECORDS------------
THERE ARE NO MENTION OF 'AN EMI RECORDING' ON THE LABELS, JUST THE 'MFD IN UK STATEMENT' AS SHOULD ON A GENUINE FIRST UK MONO PRESS SUCH AS THIS.
THE LABELS ARE ALL IN NM CONDITION.
THE RECORDS OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T BEEN PLAYED MUCH, BUT THEY DO HAVE THE INEVITABLE SCUFFS AND HAIRLINES FROM THE INNERS, SIDE TWO HAS TWO THIN SCRATCHES THAT DO NOTHING - PLAYS VERY CLOSE TO NEW!
Further, the records do have a healthy nice sheen (as can be seen on the pictures)!
