Original laminated numbered top-loading gatefold sleeve, complete with both records, two black inner sleeves, original fold-out poster/lyric sheet and all four individual colour portrait prints. Apple labels with “Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists” and “Mfd. in U.K.” text.
VINYL: EX
Both records retain an excellent deep gloss and present very well. There are some wispy sleeve/handling marks and minor superficial blemishes visible under strong light, with no obvious deep scratches.
PLAY TEST
Play-tested throughout on a highly revealing MC analogue system. Plays EX overall with clear, strong audio. Some light crackle is audible between tracks but does not detract from the music. Crackle is also present to intro of ‘Martha My Dear’, during ‘Blackbird’ and ‘Julia’. ‘Julia’ has a few repeated light background ticks caused by a short surface mark, shown in the close-up photograph. No skips or sticks. Excellent overall playback.
LABELS: EX
Clean and attractive overall, with no writing or significant damage. Please see the detailed photographs for a closer look.
SLEEVE: EX
Original laminated numbered top-loading gatefold sleeve No. 021006. Presents very well, with some age-related toning/spotting/fading and light laminate, edge and handling wear as shown in the photographs. The rear sleeve does not carry the small grey “Stereo” designation; this is a documented variation. As noted by 'The Beatles Collection' specialist reference archive. No writing or major damage.
INSERTS
Original fold-out poster/lyric sheet and all four John, Paul, George and Ringo colour portrait prints are present, together with the two black inner sleeves. Please see photographs for their condition.
A very desirable and complete example of the 1968 UK first stereo pressing, with the full -1/-1/-1/-1 matrix set, early Apple label variation and low-numbered original top-loading sleeve
