Description
Up for auction is a copy of The Beatles’ White Album. Released in 1968 on Parlophone, cat no P-PCS 7067-8, a stereo pressing. This is an incredibly rare export copy, pressed up in the UK with Parlophone –rather than Apple- labels, for distribution where the Apple logo had not yet been registered. Most of them ended up in Portugal, I understand.
Condition: clearly a much-used LP. All four sides have much wear, though there are very few marks which are actually feelable. It sounds a good deal better than it looks; all sides play through at 2g with no jumps or skips, though there are some clicks, pops and surface noise. The labels are problem-free except for one small tear on side 2, some mottling on side 3, and the inevitable spindle trails. Cover has some staining (which should come off with a good clean) and some laminate creases (which won’t). Spine area is a bit faded. No inserts or inners, though I might have a spare insert or two lying around, which I’ll enclose if requested. If you’re bidding, do not expect a mint copy; do not even expect a VG copy. But this is a chance to get one of the rarest Beatles LPs at a low price. G/G+/VG- (LP1/LP2/cover)
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor). I never use mint as a grade for used records. I am a long-time (25+ years!) record collector, and play-grade where possible. I don’t use stock photos: the item in pictured here is the item for sale.
