Description
On offer here is a UK original 1968 Mono 1st pressing of the White Album by THE BEATLES on the dark green Apple label with the ‘Sold In UK’ label text. It comes in a rare wide spine cover with the original black inner sleeves.
This copy comes in the correct top opening laminated numbered gatefold sleeve. Matrix numbers are Side 1 – XEX 709-1, Side 2 – XEX 710-1, Side 3 – XEX 711-1 & Side 4 – XEX 712-1. Mothers & stampers are: Side 1 – R 3 3, Side 2 – GD 1, Side 3 – GDG 5 & Side 4 – G 1. Both records are in GOOD condition with plenty of marks and scratches, though all 4 sides played through without jumps or sticks on my turntable and both LPs play MUCH better than they look and, as usual with these thick vinyl 1st pressings, still sound really good!! Sides 2 & 4 look better visually (VG- to VG).
The wide spine Mono cover (without the Stereo stamp on the rear) No.0157272 is very strictly graded in VG condition. There is some general creasing & wear, and some spine damage but otherwise it is in pretty good shape. There are no photos or poster included. The original black inners are present but are subject to the usual wear these flimsy sleeves are prone to and have been repaired with sellotape. Side 4 has the KT tax code on the label. Sides 3 & 4 have “An EMI Recording” on the labels.
