Rare 1969 UK mono 1st pressing, (stamped) matrix numbers; XEX 715-1 / XEX 716-1
The labels have the “An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines and the “Sold In U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists” text goes across the top of the apple image. The publishing years are printed with a small copyright symbol (p).
The album has a front laminated flipback sleeve. Top right on the non-laminated rear "PMC 7070" and, below this, “Also available on Stereo No. PCS 7070″. There is a single red line above and below the sleeve notes.
The record is housed in its original plain black inner sleeve with a die-cut circular opening on one side to expose the Apple label.
Sleeve - VG. Various small creases and one larger one to front laminate sleeve, some bumping to corners, some soiling to non-laminated rear, spine not bad, overall presentable (at least from the front).
Inner sleeve - VG+
Vinyl - Poor. Extremely well played, covered in marks, scuffs and light scratches. There is one deeper scratch which covers second half of the title track (A1), which causes several skips. After this the A-side plays reasonably, with rough noise only appearing occasionally (and no further skipping). The b-side does not skip, but it's a less enjoyable listening with a fair bit of noise throughout, exacerbated by this side being an orchestral score with some quiet passages.
So, for your collection (?) an original UK mono 1st pressing with a not too bad sleeve, but the vinyl leaves a lot to be desired. I will therefore list on an auction at a low starting bid with NO RESERVE.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not "sight-test" records and list with comments like "vinyl looks to be in good condition". This is because a disc can look perfect but still have surface noise throughout (as I've found on too many occasions). All my records are played from start to finish on a fairly unforgiving Sansui deck fitted with an Ortofon cartridge and stylus.
