Description
This is an infamous BEATLES "Yesterday and Today" 1966 2nd State (paste over) Butcher Cover album. The cover is UNPEELED, and shows no signs of anyone ever attempting to remove the paste-over trunk cover. IT LOOKS TO BE IN EXCELLENT TO NEAR MINT CONDITION!!!! In looking carefully at the white area on the right side of the album's front trunk cover, the black triangle of Ringo's sweater can be seen through the replacement trunk cover. (See picture showing the triangle, indicating that this is indeed a genuine "Butcher Cover" album.) Also, in looking closely at the bottom right corner on the front trunk cover, Ringo's black pants on the left leg is also visible. The number on the back of the album in the lower right corner is 3, next to the RIAA seal.
This legendary cover and album is a collector's treasure. There are NO seam splits on ANY edge. The printing of the album title and album number can be clearly seen on the left edge, (see picture). The cellophane shrinkwrap is still covering about two-thirds of the album, and this covering has obviously protected it well for the past 40 years. There is a tiny nick on the top edge, about center, of the album; but it does not touch the butcher cover (see picture). All printing on the cover, back and edges are clear and crisp. All corners and edges show practically no wear. There is slight album ring wear on the back of the album, and on the right side of the front cover, (see pictures). Cover shows title as Yesterday and Today; whereas, the label reads: "Yesterday" . . . And Today.
The Record Label is Capitol Records, T2553, with the rainbow label design. There are no visible signs of wear on the label on either side, and there are no signs of marks or writing on the label. The vinyl is in Excellent to Near Mint condition, showing a couple of very light surface scuffs. Center hole of the vinyl is in Near Mint condition.
The original inner sleeve is in Near Mint condition, (see picture).
In looking at other "2nd State Butcher "Yesterday and Today" Beatles albums listed for sale on E-bay and other collector sights, this album and cover are in better condition than nearly every other one we could find for sale (according to descriptions and pictures we've viewed). We believe this is a rare item, and one a Beatles collector would be thrilled to own.
