This is an exceptional example of the beatles white album, considering this is an original first press issue and is over 40 years old it is in superb condition!!,arguably THE BEST I HAVE SEEN OR EVER HAD!!,not only does it look superb but also plays fantastic (see below). Also the original cover is very white!!What makes this so rare..not mentioning its condition is
- The mono mix is totally diffent to the stereo mix with diffent vocals/sounds etc
- side 3 is KT stamped
- sides 1/2 have "AN E.M.I RECORDING" text but sides 3/4 omit this!!!
- 1st press "lipstick" lyric/poster
Cover
The original top opening Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover which is fully laminated with internal flipbacks is very clean and VERY WHITE! considering it is over 40yrs old, most you see are completely faded, yellowed, torn or even have laminate damage and seam and spine splits..but this has not,it is in a very strong Excellent condition. Here is a description of all parts of the cover
FRONT:Has the number 0168180 embossed,no laminate breaking, few creases and some light wear ont top opening.generally very white..no tears..stickers or bad damage
BACK:Same as the front..very white with no laminate breaking, few creases in places and very light record indentation..no tears..stickers etc
INNER GATEFOLD: Very white, with some wear on the left flipback and a very small bit of laminate crinkling in the bottom right corner (minimal)
SEAMS:The bottom seams are unsplit and are really nice
SPINE:This which is normally seen with bad splits or laminate damage is very nice..no splits, the text is still fully readable but ever so slightly faded
ALTOGETHER A VERY NICE CLEAN ORIGINAL COVER!
Photos
The 4 photos are in Excellent condition with no tears, stickers or writing just 2 of them have small light brown staind on the white border..nothing to bad
Poster
The original first press Garrod & lofthouse "lipstick" poster/lyric sheet is in Near mint condition, very white with no tears, stickers or wring. The corners have no pin holes so it seems that this has never been on a wall!!.There are no tears or splits on the folds just a thin line of light browning..this is minimal..otherwise it would be mint
Original inners
The 2 black original die cut inners are in nice condition, one is graded Mint(-) as it has no splits or other damage, the other is Very good+ as it has a small side split and a tear on the "window"
Records
Disc 1(sides 1/2) labels
The labels which have the "sold in uk.." above the hole and "an E.M.I recording" text are very clean and grade Excellent++ the only thing stopping them being mint is some small and light spindle marks around the hole..mainly on side 1.There is no damage around the hole
Disc 1(side 1/2)vinyl
This is in AMAZING CONDITION!!!, Side 1 is almost MINT- but has 2 small one and a half inch scratches/marks..these are not deep fingernail scratches..The rest is scratch free!!.So visually side 1 grades Excellent++ IF NOT BETTER!!,Side 2 looks pristine!! with no visible marks this must grade Mint- ...i cannot grade it any higher!!,i would love to grade it mint as thats what it looks like but the labels have slight spindle marks
The sound on both sides of this disc is amazing, most copies of this album sound really bad with bad clicks, crackles and pops but this is very different!!.The record lies flat on the turntable and from the quiet run on all the tracks play with no loud crackles...no loud clicks..and no pops..there is no sound distortion and i would say the tracks play as good as you will get for this album...very quiet and even the quiet tracks like "blackbird" play great with no crackles.I cannot say the disc plays mint but it must play close to it.realising that there may be ever so slight static between tracks as this is how original sixties records where made..even though on this it is even hard to hear
Disc 2(sides 3/4) label
The labels on this are better and grade Mint- with again no damage, the reason why this is also rare is on these labels they omit "an E.M.I recording",also side 3 is "KT" stamped and the side 4 hole is slightly off center which is unusual for this album
Disc 2(sides 3/4) vinyl
This also is AMAZING considering it`s age, both sides have full gloss and shine with no groove wear and are in Mint- condition, there are no visible scratches or bad marks or hairlines
When i played these 2 sides i noted that they where ever so slightly down on the first disc. They still had a very quiet run on and the tracks still played very well with crystal clear sound and without sound distortion, most people would say the tracks sound mint!! but there was just a few very light low level clicks which where mainly between tracks and little bits of sporadic static which again was mainly between tracks and as stated above is normal for records of this age
A TRULY MAGNIFICENT SOUNDING WHITE ALBUM
