Description

Here's a heart breaker for you - a very nice White Label Promo copy of the Beatles first US single, with a chunk missing from the outside rim on the Please Please Me side, and a bit of damage to the reverse Ask Me Why side!
I played it this morning and amazingly it plays, the first note with a bit of an added pop to it, but no skip, no repeating. (And this is on a 25 year old Technics turntable.) The vinyl itself is a bit dusty, but has great clarity and separation,. In fact, I don't think the 45 was ever played. It came from a huge box of jukebox singles and I think even though the two "x's" indicate the side the promo people were pushing, the dismal sales records of this single attest o the fact it was anything but a hit. It was a flop!
(Maybe if they had spelled the band's name correctly...)
Again - I dropped the needle on the outside of the rim and it jumped a bit through the gouge, but played fine afterwards. AND when I placed the needle at the very beginning of the song groove, there was no skipping, repeating or sticking.
The Ask Me Why side also played fine.
PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS 45 HOWEVER UNLESS YOU ARE AWARE IT MIGHT NOT PLAY AS WELL ON YOUR TURNTABLE. I'm just saying what happened on mine.
So - what is it worth?
The vinyl looks clean - VG+. It plays OK. BUT it has a serious flare, not to be overlooked underestimated.
I'm going to open low and let the market decide what this wonderful artifact is worth.
