THE BEATSTALKERS, GLASGOW'S BEATLES

In the mid 60's The Beatstalkers were as wildly supported in Glasgow as The Beatles. The 1966 EP being auctioned is a very rare example of their music released on a French Decca pressing.

Sleeve notes refer to "Au Barrowland Ballroom de Glasgow" and "Au Trocadero Ballroom de Hamilton"

The condition of the record is very good considering it is 42 years old. There are a few surface blemishes but the record plays without audible scratches, clicks or skipping using a normal 45 stylus in mono.

The sleeve is in good condition except a small loss of text on the LH side caused by removal of the tab seal which is still inside the sleeve (see picture in gallery)

"Hi My name is John xxxxxx I was at Reid Kerr College back in the 60's with Alan Mair and Dave Lennox. While I was trying to do Tech Drawings they were sitting writing arrangements. Anyway, I have a rare Beatstalkers EP issued in France by Decca. in 1966. The number on the sleeve is 457.112 "medium". The back of the sleeve is slightly damaged but the record is in excellent condition. It is so rare that it doesn't even feature in the 2008 edition of Rare Record Price Guide. 7 entries of singles by the Beatstalkers vary from £28 to £45, I wonder what this rarity is worth ? Perhaps it will be of interest to collectors".

How you doing, there's a blast from the past. I think Davie and I were hardly there in the end, as you well know, we were always skiving off to do band stuff. I think the EP you are talking about goes for the most money of any of our early releases. I believe one of them went for more than £xxx, and that was on Ebay. There is of course no guarantee.
