Produced by Beau Hill and Paul Winger (Kip's older brother), Beau Nasty popped their cherry with the 1989 release of Dirty, But Well Dressed. While the boys look neither dirty, nor well dressed on the group photo that graces the cover of the LP, unless you're into that particular outdated style of Three Musketeers clothing, B.N. was capable of lettin' loose with some cool tunes.
The polished set of ten songs opens with the groove-infused "Shake It", which is chased by the tandem of "Goodbye Rosie" and the get-down roll of "Gimme Lovin'". Driven by former Lee Aaron guitarist George Bernhardt, and his partner in fretboard work, Brian Young, Beau Nasty were lost in the glut of late '80s hair bands.
Beau Nasty featured English vocalist Mark Anthony Fretz, who showcased his ability to stretch out via the Cajun-flavoured "Love to the Bone". Like every other album from the era of Hollywood glam, Dirty, But Well Dressed includes a ballad. The four-minute "Paradise in the Sand" is a mellow arrangement that set the Bic lighters into action when performed from the stage, and the magical pull of "Make a Wish" also deviates from the hard rock rush.
Issued as a single, Beau Nasty covered the infectious "Love Potion No. 9", which brings Dirty, But Well Dressed to a struttin' close.
