With mastering services provided by Bernie Grundman, this 180g pressing is the definitive version of Beck's mid-90s masterpiece.

Odelay's bizarre cover art, which has been frequently misinterpreted as a mop head jumping over a hurdle, is actually a photo of a Komondor, a rare Hungarian breed of dog with thick matted hair. The image was chosen at the last minute after Beck failed to decide on an album cover. It was presented to him by his girlfriend and was chosen almost out of desperation. For this special 10th Anniversary edition, Beck has finally put his own handiwork to the canvas. Reproduced in purple embossed pen-like ink are Beck's own hand-drawn doodles and playful alterations to the original photography, including coffee stains, ripped corners, and a half-torn price sticker. This record will stand out among your collection with a distinct charm that can only come from Beck.

One of the most inventive and eclectic figures to emerge from the '90s alternative revolution, Beck was the epitome of postmodern chic in an era obsessed with junk culture. Drawing upon a kaleidoscope of influences - pop, folk, psychedelia, hip-hop, country, blues, R&B, funk, indie rock, noise rock, experimental rock, jazz, lounge, Brazilian music - Beck created a body of work that was wildly unpredictable, vibrantly messy, and bursting with ideas. He was unquestionably a product of the media age - a synthesist whose concoctions were pasted together from bits of the past and present, in ways that could only occur to an overexposed pop-culture junkie. His surreal, free-associative lyrics were laced with warped imagery and a sardonic sense of humor that, while typical of the times, only rarely threatened the impact of his adventurous music.

Odelay was released in June 1996 to massive acclaim, and wound up topping many year-end critics' polls It was commercially successful as well, reaching the Top 20, selling over two million copies, and spinning off a string of hits that included "Where It's At," "Devil's Haircut," "Jack-Ass," and "The New Pollution."
