From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional MINT- example of the critically acclaimed double album by the BEE GEES titled “ODESSA”, Catalogue Number 582 049/50. This is an ORIGINAL 1969 UK MONO 1st PRESSING on the POLYDOR RECORD LABEL, with a stunning 1st issue FELT-COVERED E. J. DAY gatefold sleeve. Complete with the correct matching white poly-lined inner sleeves. [The matrix numbers are A//1, B//1, A//3 and B//1].
The sleeve is in EX+ condition with only the lightest signs of wear and no creasing. The velvet covering is beautifully preserved. The front and back covers and opening gatefold spread are unmarked. This is a truly superb sleeve which will be very difficult to improve upon.
The top quality Polydor records are in MINT- condition. They are solid and inflexible pressings with tapered rim edges. The tangerine Polydor labels are like new with no obvious spindle traces (maybe just 1 on Side 4). There is no wear to either spindle hole. The sound quality of these original Polydor mono pressings is outstanding - very clear and vibrant with wonderful detail and guitar tones. Both records play essentially as new. There is no discernable deterioration in sound quality and virtually no unwanted noise at all. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence and the quiet passages are free from unwanted residual surface sound. I think that it will be almost impossible to find another copy of this standard.
The correct matching white poly-lined inner sleeves are both in unmarked EX condition.
Overall this is a beautiful example of arguably the Bee Gees' finest album which will grace any record collection.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects but is still very presentable.
PACKAGING
LPs are packaged with care and well protected to ensure that they arrive safely in the same condition as they leave me. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
