BEE GEES 1967 UK ACETATE 45: WORLD. Super Rarity Possibly Unique. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class Large Letter.
For auction is this impossibly rare item from the matchless Bee Gees' catalogue. The Original One-Sided 1967 UK Acetate of their mellotron drenched single 'World'.
Pressed directly at the studio for the few people who needed to OK its sound prior to release - usually just the band members and producer - there cannot have been more than half a dozen of these ever made. Given that acetates are made from extremely brittle shellac-like plastic how many have actually survived over the ensuing 52 years is anyone's guess.
Well this one has and is likely the only one in the world.
The record certainly has many marks and scuffs but thankfully nothing deep or disastrous and plays through clearly without skips, sticks or repeated clicking. Crackles yes but the music powers through it.
This is a genuine piece of Summer Of Love pop history. The ORIGINAL STUDIO ACETATE of 'World' by the Bee Gees captured in their swoony psych-pop pomp. A truly great record. And this is likely the first copy ever made.
