Description
There are 5 x 78rpm records here, on the classic HMV, half moon label, released as a box set, in 5 page sleeves. Each side seems in excellent condition but I cannot give an appraisal of the sound quality, as I have no access to a gramophone. In short, the solid, heavy and brittle wax has no obvious marking to any disc. I have looked at each under bright light and can't see any scratches, marks, scuffs or otherwise.
The matrix numbers run as:
2B3235/2B3376 on record 1.
This is the Fur Elise coupled with Concerto no. 1 in C major, op. 15, on the flip. Then, there are 8 consecutive matrices, on the other 4 records, ranging from:
2B3237 through to 2B3244.
Each matrix is stamped, followed by the swastika mark, which was included on all of the D.B. catalogue numbers. I believe that these were mysteriously stopped in 1932, which is when this set was produced.
This comes with the original libretto, which is fixed to the opening cover. This is also in a superb state.
The box does have some wear to the top and bottom of the spine but overall, this is a lovely item. Please refer to the photographs for the condition of this item.
