Description
BEETHOVEN / KEMPE / BERLIN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA - " SYMPHONY NO.3 (EROICA) ", HMV/EMI Records Ltd. (ASD 426) Stereo, 1960.
Very rare, 1960, English 1st pressing HMV LP with the cream and gold label and front laminated flipback sleeve.
Pressed in England.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EX- (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only the lightest spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out some paper scuffs and two faint surface marks at the beginning of side 2 - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws don't correspond directly to any audible defects.
However despite it's fairly clean appearance, on playback there is a bit of sporadic faint surface noise and occasional crackle as the record plays through. More noticeable in quiet sections of course and definitely not severe enough to ruin the whole listening experience, but fair to point and so bidders can place there max bids bearing this in mind.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EX-. (No rips, tears, defacing, etc. But a bit worn around the edges, a few small creases in the laminate which is a bit damaged on the edges and the white back is slightly discoloured - see photos for further clarification)
NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. 20/10/14 - LP relisted after being returned. As my listing clearly states, there are two faint marks at the beginning of side 2 which are inaudible on my turntable. Although my listing clearly states that I cannot predict playback quality on every turntable and cartridge combination in the whole world, the previous winnig bidder took it upon himself to return the LP because with his particular high end cartridge, there was a just audible click on four rotations of the LP. The fact that he was a dealer looking to sell this LP on for a profit is probably the most relevant thing in this case, but please be aware that this did happen on his turntable and could happen on another in theory. I'm starting the auction at 99p, which is intended to allow this item to find it's own value based on condition and demand. Please bid sensibly and don't get carried away only to find you can't resell this record for quite as much as you hoped and then try and return it to me.
