Description

Columbia Masterworks SL-201, 6-Eye Label: Casals Festival - Beethoven Cello and Piano Sonatas. The 3-LP box set includes: a) Complete Cello and Piano Sonatas (#1-5), b) Seven Variations in E-Flat on “Bei Mannern, Welche Liebe Fuhlen” (from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”) and c) Twelve Variations in F Major on “Ein Madchen Oder Weibchen”, Op. 66 (from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”).  Pablo Casals, cello and Rudolf Serkin, piano.  Included are the 3 cardboard jackets with three clear plastic inner liners. 

Condition as follows:

- The 3 LPs Visually: Excellent.  They are very shinny and I don’t see any scratches on any of them.  I see a very superficial scuff mark on a few of the sides of the LPs but you have to look for them to even notice.  If you look around the edges of the center holes, perhaps you can make out one “rub” mark on a few of the sides while other sides of the LPs don’t show any “rub” marks near their center holes.  (I point this out because one indication of a record being played a lot is when you might see multiple “rub” marks around the center hole caused, of course, when someone goes to place the LP on the spindle and the spindle rubs and leaves a mark on the paper label.)

- The 3 LPs Sample Played: I rate playability Excellent.  I sample played all 6 sides of the records on a high-quality turntable and there was very minimal surface noise.

- Main Record Cover: Excellent condition, very clean.  Just light surface wear, no tears or splits, no writing and no scraped edges.

- 3 Cardboard Jackets: Excellent condition, very clean.  One of the jackets has “Variations Sonata #2” written on it in ink pen (see photo).  The jackets are mostly white and there are no splits to any of the edges.

- 3 Clear Plastic Inner Liners: Excellent condition with no tears.
