Description
This is a fine copy from a 1978 mono reissue of the sole LP by Them offshoot the Belfast Gypsies, originally released only in Sweden in 1967. The story of Them is complicated: the group began to splinter even before Van Morrison's departure, and there was a lot of wrangling over who had the legal rights to the name. For a time, the legal winner was this group (indeed, "Belfast Gypsies" was evidently never their official moniker). The music here mostly follows the playbook of the original Them, featuring hard-hitting R&B with Morrison-style vocals and some gentler songs, though it also occasionally wades into freakbeat territory (viz. the LP's closing track, "Secret Police"). This pressing represents the first time the record was reissued, and the first time it was released in the group's native UK. The jacket has some creasing along the spine, seams, and edge, and is otherwise close to pristine (EX). The disc has some light scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise -- EX(+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded discs except where otherwise noted.
