BEN ALBERT ON RARE 1906 G&T ‘SPECIAL GRAMOPHONE RECORD’ POLITICAL INTEREST!

Here’s a rare 1906 10” G&T ’Special Gramophone Record’ (the first I’ve seen) of an unusual example of British Political Propaganda! It’s entitled ’Stump Speech On Spending’ by Music Hall comedian Ben Albert, but in actuality is a blistering attack on the policies of The Progressive Party - a Liberal/Labour grouping that controlled the London County Council from 1889 to 1908. Members included Sidney Webb and Sir John Benn, Tony Benn’s grandfather. I presume this was a semi-private issue financed by the Conservative Party and the label makes it clear it is ’Not For Sale, Exchange, or Allowance'
