BEN & THE PLATANO GROUP- Paris Soul- Impossibly rare and legendary Euro funk album by obscure Parisian band with a tight sound, nice guitars on the edge of psych & fuzz, with a nice dope organ/keyboard groove. Heavy Latin crossover with San Francisco War sound , deep bass contrasting with loud horn blasts. Will please not only rare groove diggers but might be of interest to real psych rock collectors. European funkiness of the highest order - an orchestration desperately in need of a high speed, gas guzzling car chase to accompany it's relentless rhythms, horn crescendos and dirty guitar. Unique item.
This copy is clean but has some writing in front and back: the name “Mike” on the top left corner and several comments on the backcover next to each title track, written with a bold black marker but not extremely disturbing since the cover is dark blue on the back. Probably used for sampling by previous owner, therefore the references. Without the writing i would grade the cover EX with only 1 corner crease. Because of the writing i downgrade it to VG+. The vinyl has very few light superficial marks, it looks very clean (at least EX++) apart from 1 long but light mark on side 1, not feelable, just visible under close observation and with no effect to the sound. Graded VG++ to EX at least! A nice keeper copy of an album that never shows up! ORIGINAL 1st French Pressing on BARCLAY XBLY 920 375 T.
RESERVE IS SET at less than 1/2 the MINIMUM VALUE of this Record. (estimated value between 600 and 800 USD, recently listed on ebay for 650 USD in lesser condition) A great investment and one you will have a serious trouble tracking down again! Happy bidding...
