A "Holy Grail" for Goodman collectors! BENNY GOODMAN 12 LPs of 1937 MADHATTAN ROOM Broadcasts, in the original mid-1950s limited edition red vinyl subscription series. These 12 broadcasts, covering the period from October 13 through December 22, 1937, were originally late night half-hour CBS & Mutual sustaining broadcasts. Recorded off the air at the time, the collector who owned them had them transferred to a series of exclusive red vinyl LPs in the 1950s, each containing one broadcast. A maximum of 50 copies of each were to be pressed. Price for each LP was $25 (a big amount at the time) and buyers had to commit to buying all 12 albums. Subscribers dropped out along the way and top Goodman collector Russ Connor estimated that fewer that 25 complete sets were sold! Labels are blank - I put each LP in a protective jacket sleeve when I got some some 40 years ago. All of them are in clean, excellent condition, with a few pressing flaws here and there. ANY SKIPS OR JUMPS IN THE MUSIC ARE INHERENT IN THE ORIGINAL DISCS, and are not pressing problems. The material has been reissued through the decades on LP and CDs, but this is as close as a Goodman fan can get tot he originals!
