FSM's SOUNDS & SONGS OF THE DEMONSTRATION LP + FSM'S FREE SPEECH CAROLS 45 E.P. -- hard to find, original 1965 private press Protest Folk LP documenting the landmark student activism in 1964 at Berkeley that helped kick off the 1960's college protest movement. Side One has number of excellent topical-folk numbers in the Dylan/Phil Ochs vein inc. "Battle of Berkeley Talking Blues," "Free Speech Demonstration Talking Blues" and others. This copy includes an ex. rare additional Private Folk 45 E.P. (actually it's LP length since there's 11 songs on it) w/ scathing, satirical takes on classic Xmas Carols w/ protest lyrics inc. "God Rest Ye Free Speech," "We Three Deans," "It Belongs To The University" and "Come All Ye Mindless." The 45 has a home-made picture sleeve w/ separate front & back covers -- front has in-your-face political cartoon picturing the University deans as grotesque caricatures, the back has detailed notes on the Free Speech Movement and the additional songs. I've seen several copies of the LP but none include this additional private press 45. (Also includes slip to order additional copies of the Free Speech Carols 45.) Album -- Cover: VG, 3/4" split at bottom right corner, sticker on front, ring wear and wear at corners, writing in ink on back cover. Record: VG- to VG, light to moderate surface marks, on blue FSM private press label. 45 E.P. -- Picture Sleeve: VG++, light wear/creasing at corners. Record: VG+, light surface wear, on blue private press label.
