It's that time of year again. And, truth be known, we're here for it. Yes, Christmas may largely be a commercial exercise in guilt-drive capitalism - hence the underlying fear even the most painstakingly chosen gifts won't be enough to show them how much we care (when in reality, being present is far more important than bought gestures). And yes, we do have to endure weeks of hastily conceived seasonal album releases. But, it's also a really nice month or so if you choose to spend the coming weeks in the right ways.
Whether that includes shelling out for this reissue of Great American Songbook composer and songwriter Irving Berlin's most iconic festive fuel is up to you. However, in the grand scheme of classic 20th Century Yuletide totems, White Christmas almost ranks as highly as It's A Wonderful Life, Scrooged and Home Alone, and might even come close matching those if the on-screen action were a patch on the score. Skip the story, then, and punt for the tunes instead - they set an instant mood and steer things away from the really obvious noel-themed anthems.
