New & Sealed Audiophile Vinyl Record
Record Label: Chesky CR1
Long Out Of Print HQ Stereo pressing by audiophile label, Chesky. This record was reproduced from the original master tape. The playback machine was an Ampex 300 Series three track tape recorder totally retubed and rebuilt to the highest standards available. The original tracks were mixed using a modified Perfectionist Audio Components Pro Reference Tube Preamp. The signal was fed from the preamp directly into the lathe, bypassing the mixing console and all equalizers, thus eliminating one more set of unnecessary electronic coloration.
Record is new and still sealed in it's original loose shrinkwrap. There is a price tag on the shrink. Corners are sharp, colors vibrant and spine is straight. There are no flaws or blemishes. 100% mint.

Review: Chesky really did a good job in remastering this one, the presence and detail is stunning. The Royal Philharmonic players of 1962 should be proud. They're invisible when they should be and they sizzle when it's time. The woodwinds particularly deserve praise. The bassoons are wonderfully agile and the double-reed dialogue in the countryside is very well done. But all that is forgotten when the artist approaches the mouth of hell at the end of the witches' sabbath -- the woodwinds descend into madness with sounds of hysteria you'll have to hear to believe.
I also had never heard of Massimo Freccia, but I must say I like his job as well. A passionate and interesting reading of a very peculiar work: well done! On the TAS (The Absolute Sound) List of extraordinary recordings. ~ Amazon
