Perhaps the most prolific songwriting pairing since Lennon/McCartney, and rivaling Jagger/Richard, is Bernie Taupin/Elton John.
This is Taupin's debut solo LP featuring members of the Elton John band - some superb inventive musicians in their own right.
Caleb Quaye is no slouch, having had a solo career, as well as his own band 'Hookfoot' before working with Elton.
Davey Johnstone still led Magna Carta at this time, and indeed he plays one of his own compositions from 'Songs From Wasties Orchard' - an Irish styled folk jig called 'Sponge' - as a backing to one of Bernie's poems.
An EXTREMELY interesting album! Not least for fans and collectors of Elton and Bernie's material and recorded output.
It's the rarest of his solo works, and a prized item by collectors - so snag a true 'keeper' with this gem!
