WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Polydor Records very first High Fidelity STEREO press released by Polydor Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1964 by Discos Philips (Philips Records), licensed from the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, Germany, catalog number 237 646, with machine etched matrix numbers 237646 A Ⓟ 1964 H4-V in Side 1 and 237646 B Ⓟ 1964 H4-V in Side 2, with traditional orange/black Polydor Records labels, with white “Polydor” and black logo at top. Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!

“Blue Midnight” was originally released in 1964 in Germany and we didn’t have to wait much because the same year it was released here in Chile and, like usual in the period, we got it with a UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle, faking a gatefold cover, and kept all together for a plastic bag. Front cover has a UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with a photo of a horse race, with the album title and name of the band at top written in Spanish only and the Polydor Records logo with catalog number at top right corner, and full tracklist, written in Spanish only at bottom edge. Back cover has a UNIQUE DESIGN, the album title and name of the band are written in Spanish only at top edge, with tracklist also written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters, and other 5 records (4 of them of the same series “Race Of Hits”) by Bert Kaempfert recommended by Philips Records, with Polydor Records catalog number at top left and right corners. In labels, the album title and name of the band are written in Spanish only, with the tracklist also written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about licenses. Something interesting to notice is this PS showing a race of horses for an album by Bert Kaempfert, which became a series for different albums by Bert Kaempfert released in Chile. These pictures are taken form a German series of compilation records under the title “Die Spitzenreiter”, released in the ‘50’s and 60’s. In this case, the PS is taken from LP “Die Spitzenreiter 1964”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this great album by Bert Kaempfert And His Orchestra, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used in Chile for this album, with Spanish-written album and song titles, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Easy Listening and Jazz/Swing music, and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Bert Kaempfert!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and mostly clear, with some wear in all edges, more evident in corners and in the mouth edge, with faint creases and little rips, evident age browning and faint blemishes, with light ring marks and the number “79” written in back cover. The record is in strong VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many soft scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in absolute EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear and the name of a past owner written in Side 1, which’s not so evident because it’s red-tinted. The sound is in strong EX- or even EX condition both sides, loud, clean and clear, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant and mostly barely audible soft crackles and some occasional light clicks here and there, more evident in the silent parts between tracks, which don’t really cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, maybe not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but this record is still in a great condition, with still a very nice cover and a glossy look, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 62 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity if this Chilean press!!! And the most important, remember this record has a UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, only used here in Chile for this album, and with Spanish-written album and song titles, and with UNIQUE ERRORS!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Due to new restrictions imposed by the USA on parcel services worldwide, Correos Chile has suspended package shipments to the USA. Now, my only option for sending a package from Chile to the USA is the private FedEx service, through Correos Chile. The shipping cost for records is as follows:

GBP55 for weight until 0,5kg

GBP70 for weight 0,5-1kg

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
