These are used, but cared for, and the sets are all complete. These sets belonged to a family member who took care of her records. Most if not all of these are from Italian Operas and Operettas.

This group of sets would make a very unique, retro, vintage gift for a record collector, music educator, or Opera / cultural enthusiast. They include a number of great works, composers, performers, and conductors.

The nine box sets of particular operas are:

Rigoletto by Verdi, performed by the La Scala Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Tullio Serafin and including Maria Callas:  a box set with two records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs.

The Merry Widow by Franz Lehar, as performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra directed by Hugh Bean, and The Philharmonia Chorus:  a box set with two records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs. I did find two small timing marks on the inside of this booklet.

La Boheme by Puccini, performed by the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra directed by Von Karajan:  a box set with two records in plastic sleeves.

La Boheme by Puccini, performed by Victoria De Los Angeles conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham:  a box set with two records in paper sleeves.

La Traviata by Verdi, performed by the Berlin State Orchestra under Lamberto Gardelli:  a box set with three records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs.

I Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, performed by The Robert Shaw Chorale and Columbus Boychoir and conducted by Renato Cellini:  a box set with two records in paper sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics concurrently in English and Italian, and photographs.

Tosca by Puccini, performed by the Ambrosian Opera Chorus, St. Clement Danes School Boys’ Choir, and Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by James Levin:  a box set with two records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs.

Messiah by Handel, performed by the Zimbler Sinfonietta conducted by Thompson Stone:  a box set with three records in plastic sleeves.

Don Giovanni by Mozart, performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus directed by Carlo Maria Biulini:  a box set with three records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs.

The three sets/records of various works are:

Joan Sutherland:  a box set with three records in plastic sleeves plus an extensive illustrated booklet with explanations, titles, performance notes, storyline, lyrics, and photographs. This set is unique in that it is a collection of a variety of selections from various works by different composers.

Pavarotti’s Greatest Hits, Volume One:  one individual record in a plastic sleeve plus a single page sheet with explanations, titles, and other notes.

Pavarotti’s greatest Hits, Volume Two:  one individual record. This record is BRAND NEW, factory sealed.

I believe that all of these are rather vintage. I didn’t check dates, but noticed some from the early 1980s; I’m fairly certain that these records are at least twenty years old.

The boxes themselves are all in excellent, used condition; suitable for a bookshelf, which is where these were stored for years in a smoking-free home. They show light normal shelf wear, but I don’t see any damage to any of them. The literature booklets, all full sized, are in excellent, readable shape, and contain all sorts in interesting information. I did notice a few timing numerals written very small in some of them.

Each of these sets seems to be complete, with all of its records. The records are in very nice shape. I did not play each record, but the selections that I randomly listened to sounded great. I believe that these LPs were very lightly used. They were played, years ago, on a moderately light tracking BSR turntable, or on my very light tracking audiophile Dual 1229 turntable.

Each record is in a protective sleeve. Most are in PLASTIC sleeves, which is a way to keep albums as noise-free as possible. A few, as noted, are in paper sleeves, but those also looked and played nicely for me.

Note that the second Pavarotti album is, like the others, vintage, but it is also NEW and FACTORY SEALED.

These albums would make a nice addition to a music library, for a music educator, or for an opera aficionado who enjoys the traditional warmth and richness of the vinyl LP sound.

These will be shipped in a strong box with added protection.
