Description
Very rare 1973 MISLABELED seven-inch radio station promotional single by Big Star on Ardent label. One side of the label bears a signature, which I was told (by the seller) is actually Big Star bassist, Andy Hummel's autograph. I have never bothered to verify this, but it's entirely possible, as I bought the single in Memphis from a friend of the band. (No guarantees)
According to Discogs, this is the second D.J. copy of this single to be released. The actual first release of this DJ/promo (in 1972) has the word "PLUG" (as in "plug side") on the label and actually features the songs correctly listed on the labels. Regarding this particular version (dated Feb. & April of 1973), Discogs states: "...there are known promo copies with the same catalog number, which mistakenly play another Big Star song entitled, 'Thirteen,' on the A side, despite the fact that it reads, 'Don't Lie to Me' on the A side label." This version features the song, "Thirteen" on the side erroneously labeled "Don't Lie to Me." The record plays beautifully, with no skips or scratches. It has been played perhaps ten times.
