Description
What It Is:
This is the Record Store Day (rsd) "test pressing" release of Big Star's third album, here called Third (but sometimes also called III, 3rd, and Sister Lovers). It's on the original black vinyl with plain white label in a box that simulates a reel-to-reel box and includes a cool set of lyrics, mixing specs, and mastering instructions.
There were 2,000 of these black vinyl simulated test pressings created for the 2001 Record Store Day. Out of those, there were five that were autographed by Jody Stephens. I did open this one to check and it's not one of those five. I did not play it (I have another copy).
The Record Store Day sticker is still attached to the cellophane which is included in the box. I've placed the LP in a Nitty Gritty sleeve and outside the box (so no additional seam split), but inside a mylar outer sleeve that I've included for safe shipment.
Condition:
Sleeve: VG++: the cellophane has been unwrapped (it's included in the box), and replaced by a removable mylar sleeve. There's a 2" seam split on the box at the bottom (from the record in original transit).Record:
visual grade: VG++: unplayed, some small patches of faint hairlines, presumably from original insertion of the record into the sleeve, that don't get anywhere near where your stylus will play. Looks beautiful..
play grade: M-: unplayed
