BIG STAR ' RADIO CITY', The second and last ( Alex Chilton refused to acknowledge their 3rd l.p) released in their lifetime as a group
Alex Chilton, once a member of 60s band the box tops, found his true genius with the formation of big star.Along with fellow members Jody Stephens and Andy Hummel, created a lasting masterpiece of delicate harmonies, twanging guitars and intricate chord changes, along with balls out rock n roll. A masterpiece of 70s power pop.
Released as the group were disintegrating,the influence of such label mates neighbours and contemporaries as booker t. (Ardent was a subsidiary of stax records) and the natural soaking up of their Memphis neighbourhood, make this such a sought after rare classic.
The state of the group, as well as little or no support from the label meant that this record sold hardly any copies. This is why, as well as it future reputation as a power pop masterpiece, it has become so sought after by collectors with taste who desire original pressings.
RECORD....VG++ very minor scuffs and surface marks, not affecting play, lovely gloss, please see photos.
SLEEVE.....VG ....saw cut top left, corner and spine wear, slight discolouration , and ring wear, still a nice example, once again please see photos.
LABEL.....EX
THEIR IS VERY MINOR STICKER RESIDUE ON FRONT BOTTOM LEFT OF SLEEVE, MAYBE A PROMO STICKER.??? HOWEVER NO INDICATION ON LABEL THAT STATES PROMO OR D.J COPY.
