Description

Well, it's the real thing, presented here for sale by the original artiste through this seller for the first time in over two years. A pristine, glossy, un-used and positively MINT- copy of this Northern Soul /Mod dancer, I'm Waiting, written by Bill in 1968 and pressed up by Stan Lewis (on the label named after his brother) as a promotional aid to the Bill Bush Combo. Proceeds of this sale, less listing fee, go to the artiste.

I've heard people try to tell me that this "isn't really rare" or "loads will turn up". Having been to Shreveport and met with Stan Lewis and Bill Bush I know that there were less than 20 sold in Stan's record shop, most of the remaining copies going to Bill in a box for promotional use. According to Stan any remaining stock copies were binned in the 70s during a Jewel/Ronn/Paula clearout.

For those who remember my article in Manifesto magazine about three years ago on Bill you'll recall that the record was really intended as a tool for the Hammond organ led Bill Bush Combo to promote themsleves in the lounges and niteclubs of the southern states. The record was quite successful at promoting the band, it was much easier to get gigs when you had a record out, but not a commercial enterprise and so therefore today, very rare.

This single, one of Bill's last remaining copies, is un-used and has been stored in dry conditions since 1968, so it's almost like new. Label, and vinyl are both Mint-. The business end is showing signs of storage film, simply requires a rub over with spirit to reveal high gloss, pristine vinyl - but you can do that as it's so clean I don't want to touch it.

Bill wrote the track in half an hour to fill the b-side of a swamp pop ballad, A Velvet Touch, which he also wrote, but that took him 6 months. In my opinion, I'm Waiting is the ultimate jazz/soul dancer, with complex chord structures and bass provided by some fancy footwork on the Hammond pedals from Bill. Amazingly there are only three guys on this track, it sounds like an entire band with brass section and it never loses its magic for me. This is a s good as it gets in terms of jazz soul, and in terms of a copy of this single.

Postage options are Special Delivery ONLY or collection also available. No return please - this described accurately as always, thanks.
