This is a very collectable audiophile rarity issued by Classic Records. There are 5 heavy vinyl, one-sided records in this set. Mastered by audio legend, Bernie Grundman, this was Classic Records' attempt to achieve the ultimate in vinyl sound quality.
The records are packaged in one sleeve with the original album artwork and then four white generic covers. Classic Records pride themselves for releasing each album with the original artwork, LP labels and any other materials which were included with original pressings. Corners are sharp, spines are straight and there are no flaws, blemishes or imperfections of any kind. 100% MINT!
This title was mastered by Classic Records at Half Speed from the original source master tapes. An all-analog, tube amplification process was used at every step. Classic Records used a proprietary vinyl, in either 180 gram or 200 gram weight, that guaranteed virtually no surface noise and sonically superior dynamics. 
In short, this is as good as this album is ever going to sound on vinyl. Don't wait... this five record set is long out of print and growing harder to find - especially in this brand new, still sealed condition.

Review: The Bill Evans of “Montreux” is more stylistically aggressive here for sure, and not as predisposed to some of the tonal nuances he's known for. That may be due in part to the somewhat brittle-sounding and "treble-y" baby grand provided. But he had been playing all those dates with the take-no-prisoners Philly Joe in the past months, and as he said in ’68, referring to that association, “during that time I did play physically much stronger, because the strong things that we played were that much more robust. […] It’s just that it got going, and I acquired the habit of playing that way then. So it may be somewhat of a carryover from that.”
On this album he plays with a nice spark and a noticeably heightened awareness of his bandmates, though the repertoire held no real surprises apart from his mid-sixties fare. There are two Evans originals-- One for Helen, first recorded at the 1966 Town Hall concert, and Walkin' Up - done in a more subdued manner for 1962’s “How My Heart Sings” album), A Sleepin' Bee , (perhaps the only Harold Arlen standard with lyrics by Truman Capote, by the way) played in A Major, Embraceable You, done here as a special feature by the overly busy and often “buzzy” Eddie Gomez, Earl Zindars’ lovely Mother of Earl, the concert favorite Nardis, and the perennial Someday My Prince Will Come and The Touch of Your Lips. ~ Bill Evans Webpage
