Just as Bill Evans successfully entered the 1970’s, when The Jazz-Rock Movement had shook up the music, the great jazz pianist stunned listeners when he briefly added the electric piano to his music while mostly maintains his true piano-oriented virtuosity. When From Left To Right first came out in 1970, it gave the listeners a new sound thatnobody had come to expect from Bill Evans: playing the Fender-Rhodes electric piano and the Steinway piano during the entire session where he skillfully switched from one instrument to another—and back again without losing his world class virtuosity. While maintaining his highly sophisticated ‘jazz piano’ artistry and refusing to take part in the Jazz-Rock Movement of the 1970’s, Bill Evans impressed jazz fans and the critics with this dynamic keyboard performances, which is backed by an orchestra and a track list, including What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life, I’m All Smiles, Why Did I Chose

You, Soiree as well as a couple superb original songs--One For Helene and Children’s Play Song. But it’s a superb version on The Dolphin he presents both before and after two tracks, which the flutes, strings and percussion is innovatively overplayed where it epitomizes the singular entry in Evans’ celebrated discography. Though overlooked by some, we can all enjoy From Left To Right, which showcases his lyrical and refreshing musical experience filled with skillful empathy and sheer easy-listening vibe that make it so unforgettable.

Unobtrusively arranged by Michael Leonard, this 1970 release resembles nothing so much as famed bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim's series of shimmering instrumental albums with arranger Claus Ogerman, even without those gently relentless rhythms driving every tune. Still, the highlight of this album is the dancing two-part "The Dolphin - Before & After," a non-Jobim bossa nova which allows Evans his only extended improvisations.

(c)             The record is  apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
