RARE and long out-of-print (10) LP box set by Bill Evans titled "The Final Village Vanguard Sessions June, 1980", released by Mosaic Records (MQ10-171) in 1996.
This set is hand-numbered 0369 of 3,500 limited edition pressings on audiophile 180 gram quality vinyl.
The 58 selections from Bill Evan's trio (featuring bassist Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera on drums) were recorded at the Village Vanguard in 1980 on June 4, 5, 6 & 8. The performances from this trio are considered some of the finest moments of his career, as Evans had renewed his spirit of exploration after years of creative stagnation. Sadly Evans passed away within 3 months of the Vilage Vanguard dates.
