Bill Evans Trio "Sunday at the Village Vanguard" Lp ~ (1961) with Scot LaFaro (Bass) and Paul Motion (drums) Recorded live Village Vanguard NYC 6/25/61

RIVERSIDE RLP 376 Rare MONO 1st Pressing Deep groove with the earliest 1st press matrix "A-1 B-1" in deadwax trail-off area. 

Original Royal blue labels with reel to reel and microphone logo. 

Original 1st press textured cover.  Evan's piano performance and LaFaro's bass play are noteworthy.

(Please Do not confuse this true Mono Original album with any green label reissues or stereo pressings which also were released afterwards.)  

YEAR / ORIGIN : 1961  USA

VINYL:   VG+  Heavy Thick inflexible vinyl. 

Note: The vinyl shows a mild storage warp which does not affect play.  Tested with High quality Stanton cartridge tracking at 1.0-1.5g....no loud repetitive clicks, no thumps found.

Surface crackle clearly exists throughout side one.  Side two reveals less surface crackle than side one and in general sounds cleaner than side one. At the very end of side two, just as the final song is ending and approaches the deadwax/trail-off area there is a skip and scratching sound due to a small tiny hairline identified in the vinyl.    

COVER: VG Textured Original with taped seam splits, owner's name atop back cover, # sticker top left corner (album was part of special Hall Memorial Library Archive Jazz Collection--see sticker on label side 1), 3 scrape marks on front cover.

Next day shipping. Vinyl & cover separated and placed in poly bag and then a professional sturdy Lp mailer with an additional cardboard filler pad for extra protection.

Vinyl grading: 

M = Mint (like new, looks Unplayed!)  (Superior play) 

NM = Near Mint  (very clean, barely a mark)  (Plays Great!) 

VG++ = Excellent (some very light scuffs or hairlines) (Nice Play…barely any surface crackle)

VG+ = With a decent amount of scuffs and hairlines (with obvious surface noise)

VG = Very scratched (but plays much better than the appearance seems to be)

Cover Grading:  

NM = Cover shows no seam splits, no ringwear, barely any or no edge wear.

NM- = Same as NM but may have 1 or 2 small imperfections which are not significant

VG++ = Perhaps a neatly taped seam split or two, or some creases, or some light ringwear or a combination of these

VG+ =  Often strong signs of ringwear, or many seam splits, or large very noticeable creases, or stains or a combination of these

VG = An unappealing cover in many ways but the rareness of the album or the high quality of the vinyl makes the album still worthwhile to the listener
