Waltz For Debby

Featuring: Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian

Cover (noted imperfections),  lt rw, cr, rub at corners. The Vinyl is Excellent with full gloss and a few light surface abrasions (mostly on side two).

Made In USA. Riverside Orpheum Records RLP 12-399, High Fidelity, Mono.

Here's the deal with this record. There is a slight edgewarp that causes the needle to bob up-and-down (mostly on side one). I have tested it on my Planar II turntable and it does not skip. I would not try to play it on a Crosley or any cheap record players that don't have clearance between the vinyl and the tone arm as that wouldn't work. 

From the "Glossy Surface" and lack of significant spindle marks, it appears that this was played very few times. Perhaps the edgewarp was a factory issue? The sonics are good on this record and as you may know, it is a very quiet album. I always thought that I would get around to fixing the warp somehow however, I have another copy that I have been playing instead so this one has been on the shelf some 20 years!

I'm starting the bidding at just 99 cents, hoping to give somebody an introduction to an original copy of this fine recording in nice condition.

Heres a brief explanation of my grading system, followed by an overview of abbreviations you will encounter...

  • SS  Still Sealed - in factory-fresh condition
  • M  Mint - I don't use this grade.
  • M- Mint Minus - a near perfect record
  • Excellent a great record, slightly below M- but above average (VG+).
  • VG++  Very Good Plus close to like new with only superficial signs of use that dont affect play. Only well cared for records will grade out to VG+. Will satisfy all but the most demanding collector.
  • VG Very Good - a used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice.
  • VG- Very Good Minus - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.
  • G+ Good Plus. In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up records.
