Over the next few months i will be selling on here a superb selection of rare Soul, Jazz, Funk and Latin LP's, acquired from a serious enthusiast who is trimming his collection down! Info: Original US pressing of this classic LP, featuring ace cover versions of "Everybody's Talkin" (from the film Midnight Cowboy) and The Beatles classic "Let It Be".
This is a rare and highly collectable original issue with grooved labels, and is a super clean copy!
Comes in original card paste-on picture sleeve and has original plain paper inner sleeve.
By the time Bill Withers made this, his debut recording, he'd already served for many years in the US Navy, had a job as a milkman and installed toilets in jets for American airplane construction companies. All the while, he bombarded record companies with self-produced demo tapes that landed in the dustbin. In 1971 came his breakthrough when the successful producer Booker T. Jones hauled him onboard and sent him into the studio with guitarist Stephen Stills, drummer Al Jackson and bass player Donald "Duck" Dunn. In his debut album, Withers demonstrates his universal, mature competence as a singer, composer and performer, which was hardly surpassed in his later recordings.

Vinyl is visually in near mint condition and looks immaculately clean and shiny. Record has hardly been played at all - plays excellent+ and sounds superb with just a few light crackles at the start of the first song on side 2, and occasional bit of very light background noise audible only in between tracks and hardly noticeable. A really nice copy!
Labels are very clean with only two or three faint spindle marks on each side.
Sleeve in excellent condition - looks clean and tidy with just light/mild scuffs on corners, some slight scuffing at the top of the title spine, and a crease in the top left corner.
Inner sleeve in excellent condition.
