Description

ON OFFER: Billie Holiday. The Golden Years. 1962. 3 LP. Mono. Columbia. C3L 21. Vinyl: M. Box: NM. Booklet: M. Liner notes by noted jazz writer Ralph J Gleason. On Columbia 6 eye label! Very rare.

This is is a collection of recordings spanning Billie's peak years, from 1933 to 1941, including sessions for Columbia, Vocalion, Okeh, and Brunswick. I got this at an estate sale and have never played it. The booklet is filled with great pics of Billie, Ben Webster, Buck Clayton, Gene Krupa and others. Really nice set.

WHY PART WITH THIS TREASURE?
A rash of unexpected expenses, alas. This LP is from my personal collection. I am not a retailer, but rather a fanatical connoisseur of all things vinyl!

MORE ABOUT WHO YOU’RE BUYING FROM:
A dyed-in-the-wool audiophile/vinylphile. I read Michael Fremer religiously. Hello, Phonogrammers! My front end is a VPI Scout, van den Hul Frog cart, VPI tonearm cable running into a brand new Sutherland PhD phono stage—a very revealing but nontheless musical setup. Meaning you can trust my judgements of an LP’s condition and MUSICALITY. On that note, as important as cosmetic condition is, how an LP actually actually PLAYS remains (for me) the single most important thing. How enjoyable and ENGAGING is it to listen to? We’ve all had the experience of buying an album which LOOKED perfect, but nonetheless played like crap. I do not sell those kinds of LPs.

I welcome your questions and invite you to check my other auctions, a selection of vintage and/or audiophile LPs, SACDs and the like. Note my 100% positive feedbacks. Good luck bidding. John
