SCARCE Indiana LP !! Perhaps the best 1970s jazz record EVER from Indiana in terms of capturing the many many great and disparate elements of jazz, blues and spiritual music. Oliver Nelson Junior is one of the most dynamic virtuoso performers I've ever seen. Oliver's kindness and knowledge of the history of jazz is off the charts. This music is very positive and inspiring, mellow and focused.
The "BILLY WOOTEN - In This World" vinyl LP, released in 1979 by ART RECORDS, features a high-fidelity recording of spiritual jazz music by a talented ensemble including Oliver Nelson Jr., Jack Gilfoy, and Steve Weakley.
Weakley is amazing whether it's blues guitar ala Stevie Ray Vaughn or Wes Montgomery inspired Jazz stylings! Weakley is very soulful with a tone of gold !
This first edition, collector's edition album showcases a mix of bebop, soul jazz, and jazz funk styles, with original cover art and etched features. The record plays at 33 RPM in stereo format, making it a must-have for fans of 1970s spiritual jazz music.
Vinyl tested and plays great. Side 2 is close to NM. Only a tiny bit of surface noise. Side one has a medium amount of surface noise but easily solved by playing a little louder than usual ( like old blues recordings but not even 1/10 the surface noise inherent in the 78s ) .

This LP holds up after 47 years to purrfection due to the fact that it's roots lie not only with the ECM records but records by the art ensemble of Chicago, Pharoah Sanders, Charles Lloyd, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Lionel Hampton and the vocals have to be heard to be believed. However, this music is my definition of perfect mellow jazz. While not as histrionic as the above influences this is JAZZ at its best w/o the " New Age trappings ". This LP gets a 10. Free returns.
